But this is where your troubles only begin as the slightest collision will cause your steering wheel to detach from the dashboard, and, well, things only get worse from there. With your vehicle wobbling about before oncoming traffic pops into view mere meters in front of you, it's impossible to avoid crashing, very, very fast. Set to the tune of Svetlana Tovarisch's pulsating, Kavinski-esque electro-pop soundtrack, you play as a man driving the world's most inefficient car down the dimmest stretch of the desert highway, apparently going the wrong way. Looking at your arms, you apparently play as E.T.

Overall, it’s a great game that is a must buy for anyone with a computer. The controls allow players to speed through the levels and beat them as fast as possible. The level format with soundtrack give the player just enough anxiety and tension to make the game fun and worth playing. The Art style with the wacky silent film humor makes the jokes a surprise every time. The levels that aren’t original are references to other popular videogames such as Mortal Kombat or Space Invaders. Most of the levels are original backdrops that Sos created and take place on spaceships, volcanoes, in offices, cabins, and lots of other places. Every level of McPixel is a different type of bomb in a different location. The game’s over the top bizarre humor and unique level format are one of the key elements that makes McPixel independent of other idie games.

This game is brilliantly unique and different from a lot of the games out there on the market.

That is his leg that was frozen solid when he kicked Sub-Zero, and not a boner-cicle. I put the game on mute and was still glued to the puzzles. I also found that the music and sound effects, although it fits with the game perfectly, are not required to be fully immersed in the game.

While I was solving puzzles, the music put me in a state of minor anxiety to help me focus on the game. While I wasn’t solving puzzles I shook my head in rhythm to the great sound track. Considering how there are at least 100 unique puzzles in the package and free DLC on the way, this is a steal.Īudio quality: 8 out of 10. For one bite sized portrait of Abraham Lincoln on a green piece of paper, this wonderful game can be yours. If the player completes the second run then they get a 100% rating for that set of puzzles.

The first time around the player must finish the puzzle by figuring out how to stop the bomb from exploding(This is the general goal of the game), but the second run requires the player to purposely fail in a specifically odd way. In Replay Value, McPixel scored a 9 out of 10 because of it’s free DLC and requirement to play the levels twice and finish them in different ways. Took me five attempts to figure this one out. These breaks can be up to ten minutes apart, but that really depends on how long it takes the player to pass the puzzles. The immersion can set in almost immediately if the player chooses to continue. With the game’s batches of puzzles the immersion breaks after completing each one, giving the player the option to either leave the game, go on to the next step, or replay to get 100%. Regarding player Immersion in the game, McPixel receives an 8 out of 10. This relieves the stress that can build up while stuck on a particular puzzle. By presenting players with “batches” of short puzzles the game can provide instant gratification for beating a puzzle more frequently in lower doses. Each puzzle only lasts twenty seconds, and all of the puzzles are bundled into sets of six. The game is designed to be played in short intervals. In terms of game Mechanics, McPixel gets a 9 out of 10. At the main menu, if you click on “Extras” McPixel will kick a man, get his foot stuck in the man’s butt, sucked into the butt, and teleports to the “Extras” menu. McPixel is an Indie game create by the developer “Sos.” The game has received tons of praise and is now available for purchase on Steam for five dollars.Īlmost nothing you encounter in the game is expected.
